Your headline is appropriate. I keep having flashbacks to 1984. The feelings on election night were pretty similar. It was my birthday, no less.

I wish I could draw solace from having been in this place before. Contrary to expectations, Bush didn't provoke WWIII (which isn't to say that he couldn't have) and many things muddled on. As with Bush, the most pointed manifestations of Reagan's evil were directed outward. In Nicaragua and El Salvador things weren't exactly muddling.
