bOINGbBOING reports that GM Canada has apologized for the "Freaks and Weirdos" ad suggesting riders should funk up the environment and drive a Sunfire rather than endure the bus. A pdf of the apology letter is here.

After having the "pleasure" of renting a Sunfire a couple years ago, I'd rather endure a bus, a train, or a flaming yak than drive one :)

Now there's a recession-proof business opportunity! We should set up a nationwide network of rent-a-flaming-yak franchises. The origins of our enterprise might be a little hard to explain to Fortune, tho.

Hrmmm... are flaming yaks environmentally friendly?

I do think greenhouse gases are given off by oxidizing Yak hair, but I'm not going to let that stand in the way of Capitalism!

Heck if this was 1999 I could have raised $25 million by now for flamingyak.com! But our scope is larger than just rental of flaming yaks -- we are going to *own* the flaming yak space. At the same time as we define it. Imagine a future where whenever flaming yaks are discussed, or contemplated, or coveted, only one brand comes to the consumer's mind -- flamingyak.com.

We already have concept art for our superbowl commercial... can you say "flaming yak hand puppet"?

A Seattle outfit just registered eflamingwaterbuffalo.com, so we need to act fast to gain the first mover advantage!
