I was reading this thread over on Plastic; a post mentioned Avril Lavigne's taste for The Pixies; and I immediately put on Surfer Rosa. Its been too damn long. I think Doolittle might be the first indie album I ever bought: at least its the first one that I still own.
The Pixies are so incredible. I was talking to a friend last night about how brilliant all of Doolittle is while we were listening to it. You can never go wrong with either "Monkey Gone to Heaven" or "Hey", and "Here Comes Your Man" is a song that just makes me completely happy every time I hear it. I go through phases where The Pixies are all I'll listen to, and then I have to put them back on the shelf for a bit. They're one of those bands that make me feel like I'm discovering them all over again every time I hear their music-- I get really giddy and excited and can't wait to hear the next song. They're truly one of the greatest bands of all time, in my opinion.
