As if you needed another reason to quit smoking, the BBC is running a story about research that suggests nicotine itself can harm the body in significant ways. Researchers at Scripps Research Institute suggest that nornicotine - which is produced when nicotine is processed in the body - can "burn" proteins in the body, "the chemical equivalent of cooking." This in turn can shock the body and produce other irregular reactions in the body.
